Our Ethiopia Sawana coffee beans have a fruity-sweet taste with notes of rose, strawberry and vanilla.
The green coffee comes from the Sewda Washing Station, located near the village of Shanka in the Guji Zone. It belongs to Testi Coffee, a company founded in 2009 by producer Faysel A. Yonis and his wife. They now operate over 20 washing stations in Ethiopia, producing coffees with complex aromas that delight us.
The beans are grown in the vicinity of the washing station at an altitude of approximately 2200 meters and delivered from numerous small farms for further processing. The green coffee, from Ethiopian landrace varieties, is processed using the "natural" method. After a water bath, it rests for 21 days on shaded raised beds. This process imparts a fruity flavor, as the pulp of the coffee cherry remains attached to the beans during drying. Our green coffee is supplied by Plotcoffee, a Hamburg-based company specializing in sustainable specialty coffee.
