Our Papua New Guinea Kindeng coffee beans taste berry-fruity with notes of blackberry, cocoa and pineapple.
The naturally processed green coffee comes from the Kindeng Dry Mill, a processing station in Kindeng, located in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Around 1,500 farmers bring their cherries from their small farms of 1-2 hectares to the Kindeng Mill, where they are further processed. The region is perfectly suited for coffee and tea cultivation due to its high altitudes, dense forests, and loamy soils. The coffee plants from this lot are cultivated around the communities of Arufa and Kindeng and consist of a mix of Arusha, Bourbon, and Typica Arabica varieties.
After the cherries arrive at the mill, they are dried on raised beds and patios. During the approximately one-month drying process, they are moved several times a day to ensure a consistent and uniform moisture content. Once the coffee has dried to approximately 12% residual moisture, it is hulled and bagged. After a short storage period in a cool, dry warehouse, it is prepared for export. The beans come to us via our long-standing partner, Café Imports.
