Our Uganda Chanzo is naturally prepared and has notes of cherry, rum and dark chocolate. It is suitable as espresso and filter coffee.
The green coffee comes from 120 farmers who grow coffee on the nutrient-rich slopes of the volcanic mountain Mount Elgon at an altitude of 1900-2200 meters. The water from the picturesque Sipi Falls, which rumble northwest of the 4,321 meter high mountain peak, helps here. After the harvest, Alfred Wasikye and his team at Chanzo Coffee prepare the Bourbon SL14 and SL28 coffee cherries.
The green coffee comes to us from the Kapchorwa region via Nadine Ngari from The Coffee Board. She buys the coffee in Uganda and pre-finances it together with us and other roasters. The personnel costs are enormous, especially during the harvest season. The coffee plants on Mount Elgon grow on steep, impassable terrain and therefore have to be harvested by hand. Pre-financing helps to better manage the high costs of the harvest.
We have developed an omniroast from Ugandan beans that develops fruity-sweet flavors in the cup.
