Tested Quality

We roast our coffee beans ourselves and fresh every week. We select the green coffee carefully. This means: Before we decide on a coffee, we test and taste it extensively. For this purpose, our import partners provide us with samples, so-called samples.

To ensure consistently high quality, we check all fresh roasts in weekly cuppings. This ensures that your coffee beans always taste the way they should.

Geiles Ding

Setup: MK X54 Mahlgrad 3/13,6sec - LM Linea Mini 14 gr. 26sec ~ 30ml

Macht richtig Spaß. 🫶🏻

More About the Bean

Processing Method

Natural Processing

In regions with little rain and water scarcity the “natural” preparation method works best. When using the natural processing the coffee cherries are dried directly after sorting—including the pulp. To do this, the workers spread them flat on large terraces or special coffee beds. They turn the cherries regularly and measure their moisture. This ensures that they dry evenly and do not rot. After the drying process, the pulp and parchment membranes are removed in a so-called dry mill using friction.

The bright red or yellow color gradually gives way to a strong brown and then changes to a color that is reminiscent of raisins.Taste wise natural processing promotes sweetness and fruity notes. A pronounced full-bodiedness is also characteristic. In contrast to other methods, the acidity tends to fade into the background with natural processing.

Coffee Plant

Bourbon Variety

Coffea arabica var. bourbon is known for its very good flavor potential, is tall-growing and produces coffee beans of average size. It was mainly cultivated on the island of La Réunion in the 19th century. The name Bourbon derives from the noble family of the same name to which King Louis XIII belonged. He ruled France from 1610 to 1643. At that time and until the 19th century, French settlers forced their slaves on the island to cultivate vanilla, sugar cane and coffee.

The well-known name of Bourbon vanilla also dates back to this time, when the island was the main exporter of vanilla spices. With the February Revolution of 1848, slavery was officially abolished on the island. However, sugar, coffee and vanilla continued to be cultivated and exported. Today, coffee cultivation hardly plays a role on the island.

Coffee Plant

Coffee from Uganda

In Uganda, coffee cultivation has a long tradition: Green coffee export accounts for about 17% of the country's total export turnover. In the south of the country extends Lake Victoria, on the northern bank of which lies the capital Kampala, home to over 1.7 million people. Wild coffee plants of the Robusta variety are growing around the huge lake. The beans of the robusta variety account for around 80% of the export volume. In the southeast of the country, in the Bugisu region, rises Mount Elgon, on its slopes Arabica coffee plants are cultivated. We source our green coffee from Uganda via Nadine Ngari, founder of The Coffee Board.
